Today's program revisited the philosopher, Plato. Brett Stephens piece, published in the Opinion section of the New York Times on November, 19, 2018 titled, "How Plato Foresaw Facebook's Folly", provides the basis of that discussion. I suppose it never pays to be Cassandra, but given that philosophy plays a very important part in how we see and interact with our world, isn't it strange that education lacks the reasoning skills that would make hindsight a 20/20 option? Studying the classics is never a waste.
We also want to extend our warmest wishes to all of you from our HORN Family. Have happy holidays, stay safe, and know we're here for you..

Our discussion today focused on Corporate Ethics and what the general public can expect in the way of new jobs in rural America. Amazon chose it's sites where something like broadband is a given. Why isn't all of America capable of having equal share in a growing economy? Because not all states have access to the tools they need in order to compete for a place at the table. Labor is what keeps our country going, but will corporate be able to keep a fluid labor supply to meet the demand?

The trouble with technology is today's topic. While we strive to be master's of the airwaves, the occasion for updates in the virtual world can easily bring us to our knees. That was the case in our second hour at about fourteen minutes past 2 p.m., EST. I'm giving you, the listener, a chance to know what you missed in the first half of the program is well worth a listen. The mention of the film, "The Grapes of Wrath", as a good example to what's going on with people and Corporations was exemplary. It speaks to the human condition and what our gains and loss may be in the near future. Art imitates life is true to a large point, except the happy endings, not so much. Thank you again, for bearing with us, and your continued support of all of us here at The Virtual Center.
