Welcome back to a journey in Civics! This program discusses the importance of Civic responsibility and what role each of us play in the recovery or the demise of our nation. Pay close attention to the authors who are mentioned in our discussion because they're the ones who are exploring the faults that can either make or break or election system.

The Covidiots are getting a mite frisky of late. Shrieking at cops in California, rubbin' and smollickin' on one another in Boston, wiping their noses on a worker in Michigan, wearing a klan hood to the grocery store in California, brandishing semi-automatic rifles at the chief public health officer in Ohio, and getting all butthurt about being referred to as "knuckleheads" in New Jersey. And then there was the murder. And the bomb plot in Colorado. And the armed intimidation in North Carolina. 

Today we covered the 50 year anniversary of the Kent State Massacre and what it means in today's society. Would we still hear an outcry after such an atrocity now? Possibly. We have the coronavirus pandemic to address if we're ever going to regain the trust of our youth because at this very moment we're the monsters that's underneath our children's beds. We aren't protecting them from death and disease, we're exposing them to more danger by supporting a government that has in effect set them on a course of shear survival.

Gun-toting Ted Nugent cosplay zombies invade Michigan statehouse. Illegal immigrant descendant and white power Barbie Tami Lahren declares staying home to be "willful slavery," catches hell, deletes tweet. Racist claims black community getting COVID-19 because of "barbecues and crawfish boils." Mikey Pence's gonna get a wedgie from Clorox Claudius for wearing a mask. Nitwit Nero initiates "Operation Derp Speed;" whines "I'm the one who gets blamed." A much overdue conversation with the one and only Dan Fisher. Movies!

From Williamsburg-Brooklyn to the clapboard and mega-churches of the South, fundamentalists are literally embracing the plague like those idiots in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" worshipping a nuclear warhead. Phoney historian blames non-believers for the shutdown. E-Dub says anyone who isn't hooting like a barn owl on acid over China needs to be tried for treason. Tragic news from a longtime member of our community.

Clorox Claudius wants to force slaughterhouses to re-open and force people to go to work and get sick, but make the businesses immune from damages for killing their own workers. And in New Mexico, there is a sure-nough, brass-bound idiot MAGAT. This one's personal.

We discussed Deep Reading and the thought that goes into it. Do we really absorb the information and come to a reasonable conclusion, or do we skim it and completely miss the point an author is trying to make?
