One of the joys of doing what I get to do is the opportunity to have a relaxed, un-scripted, freeform conversation with engaging conversationalists. This was one of those evenings. Barry Friedman, author of "The Joke Was On Me," without a doubt one of the most intense, personal, unsparing memoirs I have ever read was generous with his time and covered ground you've likely wondered about, but never knew.

We have a new administration, it's a new year, and yet we're still dealing with what the last four years has conditioned us to, a certain ideology that isn't working well with reality. The cult of Trump is leaving a decided dent in our relationships with each other and creating chaos in how we work together as communities. We can say it's a Party problem, but is it? Given the current trends among the GOP one might consider it's most likely a people problem. The people involved in the Party seem to have a very poor view of the people they serve and they want it all while taking away from the people they represent.

Not a good way to run a business and that's exactly what we've become. We the People need to form a more perfect union and establish domestic tranquility quickly or we're going to the end of the line in the world scheme. Is this where we truly want to be? Just remember, China has been waiting for just such events to occur that will propel them to where we once stood.
